My personal vision statement
My mission in life is to inspire and equip all students to reach their greatest potential. I believe that all students can be successful. To ensure success, I believe that each second of every school day should center on what is best for each individual student. Therefore, my vision is to create a society of learners, which includes students, staff, parents and the surrounding community.

I will create this sense of community as I connect schools and community. This will provide that crucial context for learning that will support educational excellence for all. I will strive to connect parents with the learning that takes place in the school.

To be the leader that people trust and respect, I will continue to live my life by the code that governs my steps. I want others to see me as loyal, as I bear true faith and allegiance to my God and my family. I want others to know my sense of duty as I fulfill my obligations. I will show others respect by treating people as they should be treated. I will always demonstrate integrity as I do what is right, legally and morally. Creating change will take great commitment and is a challenge I am willing to accept. It’s all about teamwork, communication, and relationships.

If I only have a few minutes to share my passion. . .

My educational narrative

Awhile back, I watched “Dolphin Tale” at the movies. This movie followed the life of a young man, Sawyer, who had lost his zest and zeal. His dad left 5 years earlier. He had no friends. His mom found it difficult to get her son up in the morning to go to school. He was attending summer school because he had performed poorly in school during the regular school year. On his way to school one day, he discovered an injured dolphin, stranded on the beach. His then began to center his life on helping this dolphin. He researched dolphins on the Internet and spent his days and nights caring for this dolphin. What struck me the most as I watched was the vast amount of learning taking place. Sawyer was engaged. Focused. He had the support of professionals who met him where he was, moved him forward, and yet treated him with respect and treated him as if he were an expert. To me, that is what education should be. That is what schools should look like. Every day, students come to school because they are interested and engaged in something. Not only that but teachers, community members, and parents daily cheer these students on, support them and give them the knowledge to take the meet the next challenge.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could create schools where kids could not wait to get to school, learning was tailored to kids interests, and all students were engaged and interested? At the end of the day, each child is met where they are and brought to a new, higher level of learning.
